Created in the wake of the counterculture, McDonaldland captured the psychedelic residue that had soaked into mainstream media. The commercial aired just one year after Woodstock, as kaleidoscopic visuals and surreal storytelling were bleeding into advertising, Saturday morning cartoons, and consumer branding.
