Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah scored a stoppage-time goal to give Egypt a 2-1 win over Zimbabwe to start their Africa Cup of Nations campaign on Monday.
Seven-time champions Egypt remain unbeaten in the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) despite resting star man Mohamed Salah in the 0-0 stalemate with Angola on Friday. The Liverpool forward remained on the substitutes bench for the entire match as the much-changed Pharaohs wrapped up their Group B obligations with a goalless draw at the Adrar Stadium in Morocco.
Mohamed Salah 's Egypt defeated Benin 3-1 after extra time at to reach the AFCON 2025 quarter-finals. Marwan Attia curled in superbly from the edge of the box, before Jodel Dossou tapped in to level late on. In extra time, Egypt's Yasser Ibrahim nodded home before Mohamed Salah broke clear to wrap the match up.
